If we’re talking about packing your things into a suitcase and booking a flight all by yourself, with no one to go with, then yes—this is my first solo trip. I wouldn’t consider going to the US my first solo trip because I was with a friend. However, the US was my first trip without my family.
I’ve been privileged enough to be able to travel in general. I had been working in Singapore for eight months when I decided to treat myself to a trip to Bangkok as a birthday gift. There was a lot of planning—places to visit and food to try. I researched for weeks to make sure everything would run smoothly. Little did I know that the best way to travel is to go somewhere without any plans. Spontaneity is what I discovered in Thailand. Here are some photos I took on my first solo trip.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to travel alone. It has always been a dream of mine since I was young. Exploring the world and experiencing other people’s lives feels like a dream come true.
I never had any problem doing it solo—in fact, I was more excited than ever. I’ve always done almost everything on my own. I guess it comes with being the eldest in the family.
I went to two places in Thailand: Bangkok—the capital city—and Pattaya, for some beach time. I spent a week in the country, and I loved it more than I expected. From the energy of the city to the calm of the sea, everything felt like a perfect balance. It’s definitely a place I would go back to without hesitation.
As I’m writing this, it’s already been three years since that trip. It’s funny how time passes so quickly, yet the memories still feel so vivid. Why am I only writing about it now? Not just because I only revived this page this year, but also because I kept putting it off. I was too lazy to edit all the videos I took—not just from this trip, but from my other travels as well.
But maybe this is the right time. Looking back now, I get to appreciate the experience in a different way—more grounded, more grateful, and with a deeper understanding of what that trip really meant to me.

It was such an amazing experience. I loved everything about it. I’d definitely go back and spend more time exploring other places. I never thought I’d be able to do something like that on my own.
Having “adult money” makes things so much easier—it lets me do the things I’ve always wanted to do. Do I have savings? None. But I do have a lot of memories that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
